Dr. Shoemaker grew up in the Hampton Roads area. Dr. Shoemaker received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He is trained to diagnose and treat eye diseases and injuries of the eye and surrounding structures, as well as provide expert vision correction. Dr. Shoemaker utilizes the latest eye care techniques and procedures and maintains a state certification through continuing education.
Dr. Shoemaker served in the United States Air Force prior to practicing locally for 35 years. He is active and past president of a local Lions Club. Dr. Shoemaker is a member of the American Optometric Association, Virginia Optometric Association, The Southern Council of Optometrists, and is active in the Tidewater Optometric Society.
Dr. Ritter was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and grew up in nearby Hughesville. He attended the Pennsylvania State University majoring in Biology before beginning professional studies at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1972, and entered the US Army the following summer as an Optometry Officer, eventually obtaining the rank of Captain. Dr. Ritter spent two years with the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
Dr. Ritter is a member of Virginia Optometric Association, The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) and the Optometric extension
Kim has been involved in the optical industry since 1990 and in 1996, she received her Optician license. She have been working with Dr. Shoemaker since 2008. If you are looking for a new pair of glasses she is your go to person.
Mandy is the newest member of the Shoemaker Vision Center staff and is a great asset to the team. She has been in the optical field for 20 years. Any question you may have on billing or insurance Mandy is your girl!
Cece graduated from Campbell University in 2018 with her BS in Biology. She started working at Shoemaker Vision in March of 2019 but grew up going to the office often. She preforms the pre-test and helps get the patient ready for the doctor.
